This Book Made Me Think of You: A Beautiful Story About Grief, Love, and Finding Joy Again

Between the Pages | The Lavender Hazel
Some books entertain us. Others make us laugh, keep us guessing, or transport us somewhere entirely different. And then there are the books that find their way into our hearts because they speak to something we've experienced ourselves.
For me, This Book Made Me Think of You by Libby Page was one of those books.
I recently finished listening to it on Audible, and I found it to be such a sweet, touching, and beautifully honest story about love, loss, and learning how to embrace life again.
A Little About the Book
At the heart of the story is a woman navigating life after the loss of her husband. Through a series of books he thoughtfully chose for her, she begins a journey that takes her through memories, unexpected experiences, and the complicated process of finding her way forward.
What makes the story so special is that it isn't simply about sadness. It's about the many ways love continues to shape our lives, even after someone we love is gone.
And it's about discovering that life can still hold beautiful surprises.
What I Loved Most
What resonated with me most was the book's honest portrayal of grief.
Grief isn't a straight line. It doesn't follow a schedule, and it certainly doesn't come with an instruction manual.
There are moments when you feel strong, moments when the smallest thing can bring you to tears, and moments when you find yourself laughing or feeling genuinely happy, only to be surprised by the emotions that follow.
I appreciated that this story made room for all of it.
It didn't try to rush its characters toward healing or suggest that moving forward means leaving someone behind.
Instead, it offered a gentle reminder that grief and joy can exist in the same life.
And I think that's something so many of us need to hear.
Learning to Live in Joy
One of the things I found most beautiful about this book was its message about allowing ourselves to experience joy again.
When you've experienced a significant loss, happiness can sometimes feel complicated. You may wonder how it's possible to laugh, celebrate, or look forward to something when someone you love is no longer there to share it.
But this story reminds us that choosing to live fully doesn't diminish the love we carry for those we've lost.
We can miss someone deeply and still appreciate a beautiful morning.
We can carry sadness and still make wonderful new memories.
We can honor the past while allowing ourselves to embrace the future.
That message stayed with me long after I finished listening.
My Audiobook Experience
I'm an avid audiobook listener, and one of my favorite things about listening to a good story is how the characters become part of my everyday life.
Whether I'm driving, working around the house, or enjoying a quiet moment, I love getting lost in a book.
This Book Made Me Think of You was the kind of story that made me look forward to pressing play again.
I also have to mention how wonderful the narration was. For me, a narrator can truly make or break an audiobook, and this one was exceptionally well done. The storytelling felt natural and engaging, and the narrator did a beautiful job bringing the characters and their emotions to life.
With a story that explores so many different aspects of grief, I think the narration was especially important. The tenderness, sadness, humor, and moments of joy all came through in a way that felt genuine rather than overly dramatic.
It wasn't just the storyline that held my attention. It was the combination of beautiful writing, wonderful narration, and the reminder that even after life's most difficult chapters, there can still be beauty waiting to be discovered.
My recommendation: If you enjoy audiobooks, I would absolutely recommend listening to this one rather than simply reading it. The narration adds something special to an already touching story.
Who I Would Recommend This Book To
I would especially recommend this book to anyone who enjoys heartfelt fiction with characters who feel real and stories that stay with you.
If you've experienced grief, I think you'll recognize some of the emotions woven throughout the story.
And even if you haven't, there's something universal here about loving deeply, facing change, and finding the courage to keep living.
Just know that it may bring a few tears along with its sweeter moments.
My Final Thoughts
This Book Made Me Think of You was a beautiful reminder that grief is not the absence of love, but often a reflection of just how deeply we've loved.
What I took away from this story is that we don't have to choose between remembering and living.
There is room for both.
There is room for sorrow, gratitude, laughter, longing, and joy.
And sometimes, the most meaningful stories are the ones that remind us it's okay to experience all of them.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
If you're looking for a tender, emotionally honest story with a hopeful heart, this one deserves a place on your reading list.
With love,
The Lavender Hazel
