Classic Baked Beans
Ingredients
1 (28 oz.) canPork and Beans, drained (I prefer Van Camp’s )
½ yellow onion, diced
½ green bell pepper, diced
2 tablespoons brown mustard or Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon white vinegar
¼ cup brown sugar
4 slices bacon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a medium bowl, combine the drained pork and beans, diced onion, diced green pepper, brown sugar, mustard, and vinegar. Stir well to combine.
Pour the bean mixture into an 8x8 baking dish.
Lay the bacon slices evenly across the top of the beans.
Bake uncovered for 60 minutes, or until hot and bubbly and the bacon is cooked through.
Serving Size
Yields: 6–8 servings
Cozy Tip
For extra smoky flavor, lightly cook the bacon before placing it on top, and serve alongside burgers, hot dogs, or your favorite summer cookout dishes.
