A Steakhouse Dinner at Home.
Simple ingredients. Bold flavors. A meal that feels like a special occasion without spending hours in the kitchen.
There is something about a perfectly cooked steak dinner that feels indulgent. It's the kind of meal you might order to celebrate an anniversary or enjoy at your favorite steakhouse. But the truth is, creating that same experience at home is easier than you might think.
This Steakhouse Dinner at Home came together in just twenty minutes and reminded me that good food doesn't have to be complicated. A beautifully seared ribeye, roasted asparagus, warm crostini, and a simple Caprese salad create a dinner that feels elegant enough for date night yet simple enough for a weeknight.
Whether you're planning an impromptu dinner on the patio, celebrating something special, or simply treating yourself after a long day, this meal delivers restaurant-quality flavor with very little effort.
The Menu
🥩 Pan-Seared Ribeye with Red Wine Mushrooms
🌿 Roasted Asparagus
🍅 Caprese Salad
🥖 Garlic Crostini
🍷 Paired with Eccentric Bourbon Barrel Aged Malbec
Pan-Seared Ribeye with Red Wine Mushrooms

Ingredients
1 Ribeye Steak
2 garlic cloves
Fresh thyme
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
Kosher salt
Fresh cracked black pepper
3 Portabella mushrooms, sliced
3 tablespoons good red wine (I used Eccentric Bourbon Barrel Aged Malbec)
Directions
Allow the steak to rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. Pat dry and season generously with kosher salt and freshly cracked pepper.
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter and olive oil. Once the butter has melted, add the garlic cloves, fresh thyme, and steak.
As the steak cooks, continuously spoon the butter over the top. This simple step infuses the steak with the rich flavors of garlic and thyme while helping create a beautiful crust.
Cook for approximately five minutes before flipping.
After turning the steak, add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet followed by the red wine. Continue spooning the butter and wine mixture over the steak while it finishes cooking.
Cook another five minutes for a medium doneness.
Transfer the steak to a cutting board and allow it to rest for five minutes before serving. Spoon the mushrooms and wine sauce over the steak.
Roasted Asparagus

Ingredients
Fresh asparagus
Olive oil
Kosher salt
Fresh cracked pepper
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Wash the asparagus and trim away the woody ends. Arrange on a baking sheet and drizzle lightly with olive oil. Season with kosher salt and cracked pepper.
Roast for 7–10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the asparagus.
Garlic Crostini
Ingredients
French baguette
Garlic clove
Olive oil
Kosher salt
Directions
Slice the baguette on a slight diagonal.
Rub each slice with a fresh garlic clove before placing on a baking sheet.
Drizzle lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with kosher salt.
Bake alongside the asparagus for 7–10 minutes, until lightly golden.

Fresh Caprese Salad
Ingredients
1 Roma tomato
Fresh mozzarella
Fresh basil leaves
Balsamic glaze
Kosher salt
Directions
While the steak is resting, assemble the salad.
Slice the tomato into even rounds. I used a small shot glass to cut the mozzarella into circles that matched the tomatoes for a more polished presentation.
Alternate tomato, basil, and mozzarella until the salad is assembled.
Sprinkle lightly with kosher salt before finishing with a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
Lavender Hazel Tip
One of my favorite parts of this meal is how everything cooks at the same time.
While the steak is resting:
The asparagus and crostini finish roasting.
The mushrooms continue soaking up the wine sauce.
The Caprese salad comes together in just a few minutes.
By the time the steak is ready to slice, dinner is on the table.

Wine Pairing
I paired this dinner with Eccentric Bourbon Barrel Aged Malbec, and it was absolutely worth opening the bottle. The bold fruit and subtle bourbon notes complemented the richness of the ribeye while adding another layer of flavor to the mushroom wine sauce.
If you're making this for date night, I highly recommend pouring a glass while dinner cooks.
Final Thoughts
Some of my favorite evenings aren't elaborate—they're the ones where good food, a glass of wine, and a little time outside make an ordinary night feel memorable.
This dinner checks every box. It's simple enough for a Tuesday evening, elegant enough for guests, and comes together in about twenty minutes from start to finish.
So light a candle, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy a steakhouse-quality dinner without ever leaving home.
