Scripture: “Perfect love drives out fear.” 1 John 4:18
Devotional
Fear can be loud.
It can shout worst case scenarios into our minds. It can convince us that things will never change, healing will never come, and peace is out of reach. Fear wants us to believe it has the final word.
Fear Doesn't Get the Final Say
Throughout Scripture, we see people who faced impossible situations. Moses stood trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army. David faced Goliath. The disciples feared for their lives during violent storms. Mary Magdalene stood outside the tomb believing all hope had been lost.
Yet in every situation, God proved Himself greater. Fear speaks from circumstance. God speaks from truth.
1 John 4:18 reminds us that perfect love drives out fear. God’s love is not weak, uncertain, or temporary. His love is constant, protecting, pursuing, correcting, comforting, and sustaining us even in our hardest moments.
Fear may still try to show up. Being a Christian does not mean we never feel afraid. It means fear no longer has authority over us.
Because of Christ, fear does not define our identity, determine our future, or control our steps.
God’s love is bigger than our anxiety. His peace is stronger than our panic. His promises are greater than our uncertainty.
No matter how loud fear becomes, it will never be louder than the voice of God.
Reflection: Fear is loud, but love is stronger.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so deeply that fear no longer has power over my life. When fear feels overwhelming, remind me that Your truth, Your peace, and Your love are greater than anything I face. Help me walk confidently in the security of Your presence. Amen.
